Subset Gets It

Subset here. In the year 2017, I will not play the same song twice.

Let me clarify… Once I have played a song during a set in 2017, I will not play it again until 2018. This means you could follow me on tour all year and never hear a song played twice.

This is going to be a challenge like none other, and will require a lot of careful thought for every set and every song I play, as well as more careful curation of the shows I accept. There’s no way I can do this alone. I’m going to need your help. I’m going to need you to keep me in the loop about new music you find throughout the year, and if you make music please send me anything and everything.

I’m looking forward to pushing myself and my curation abilities to their limits. I have faith that this can be done, though I know it will be tough when I’m on the road. The only exceptions will be made for renegade sets or b2bs at Burning Man or festivals like Holy Ship and Shambhala, though scheduled sets still adhere to the rule. That just means that if hear me play a tune you love, tracking me down at a festival will be your only chance to hear it again before 2018.

This website will help you keep track with me throughout the year. After every show, a tracklist will be uploaded. Many sets will be released, though some will have to stay private for a while due to unreleased tunes. Some people have told me I’m crazy for this idea. To be fair, I am pretty crazy, but it’s better to have an outlet for that craziness than to try and fight it. A few people have even called me an idiot for attempting it.

In the spirit of embracing that, I am calling this Project I.D.I.O.T. (I Drop It One Time).
